Ygnacio (Inky) Ballestero
GANSEVOORT – Ygnacio (Inky) Ballestero of Pettis Road passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at his home following a long illness. He was 89.
Born on October 17, 1926 in Middletown, NY, he was the son of Antonio and Francisca (Prada) Ballestero.
Inky grew up in Saratoga Springs and on July 11, 1963, he married Irene Dominy.
For more than 60 years, he was employed by the family business, M & J Construction of Saratoga Springs, retiring 4 years ago.
He was an avid Adirondack outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his friend Bernie Shaw.
He was a member of the Gansevoort Masonic Lodge for many years. He also enjoyed the company of his faithful companions Gigi, Destiny, and Dante.
Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by a daughter, Yvonne Fortune and a brother, Paul Ballestero.
He leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Irene (Dominy) Ballestero of Gansevoort; a son, David Ballestero and wife Jeanne of Wilton; six daughters, Katherine Patterson and husband Ed of Saratoga Springs, Kathleen Doubleday and husband Theodore, Sr., of Westminster, CO,
Helen Fox and husband James of Lake Luzerne Donna Carruthers of Gansevoort, Nancy Ernst of Saratoga Springs, and Laurie Leonard of Hudson Falls; grandchildren, Heather (Ryann, Elena, Paige), Holly, Matt, Theo (Theodore), Camille ( Jacob, Ayden, Collan), Alicia, Cory (Cole), Jennie, Megan (Chloe, Benjamin, Johnny), David (Emma), Zackery, and Tiffany; three brothers, Antonio Ballestero of King of Prussia, PA, Manuel Ballestero of Burnt Hills, and James “Jimmy” Ballestero of Saratoga Springs and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service was held Saturday, October 8 at Compassionate Funeral Care, Inc., 402 Maple Avenue, Saratoga Springs. Burial was in Gurn Springs Cemetery in Wilton.
