A few years ago our son Ian wrote a story for his two young nephews. The story was titled “Where Do Missing Socks Go?” The book is written in the Dr. Seuss style. I found it both funny and entertaining, as did his two nephews. I urged him to publish it.
Last year he collaborated with Danielle Marino, who did the illustrations, and published the book. Both Ian and Danielle are graduates of Saratoga Springs High School and grew up in this area.
Several months ago I submitted this book to the Director of the children’s section of the Saratoga Springs Public Library for her review. She felt that this book was not appropriate for the children’s library. She sent an email to my son, but has declined to meet with me to discuss this matter further. I also spoke to the Director of the library who also declined to meet with me and suggested that and I put my concerns in writing.
It is my opinion that this book would be a great asset to our library.
I am writing this letter to garner your support for accomplishing this aim. To do this, it requires that individuals contact the staff of the children’s library and express their opinions.
The Head of Youth Services at the library can be reached by calling the library at 518-584-7860 or emailing her at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
A local public library should be supportive of good books, especially by local authors.
