SARATOGA SPRINGS – Last week, the Patient Experience Project (PEP) announced the addition of award-winning journalist Claire Hughes to its creative department in the company’s Congress Plaza headquarters.
Hughes brings more than three decades of experience in communications and journalism to her role as a copywriter at PEP. She is responsible for writing content across various formats, including both print and digital.
Before joining PEP, Hughes worked as a reporter at the Times Union. She covered the healthcare sector, highlighting the impact that federal and state policies have on the local level; as well as writing feature articles on topics such as the opioid epidemic, infectious diseases, end-of-life issues and challenges in accessing healthcare.
Previously, Hughes was the communications director and web editor at the Rockefeller Institute of Government. Hughes also worked as a reporter at the Albany Business Review and as a business editor at The Record in Troy.
Hughes earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and is currently taking graduate courses in bioethics through Clarkson University. She is a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists.
Hughes has been awarded for excellence in journalism by numerous organizations, including the New York State Associated Press, the Society for Features Journalism, the Association of Health Care Journalists, the New York Press Association and the National Press Foundation.
