ALBANY — Blind Visionaries, a multi-disciplinary program that explores the nature of sight and blindness, light and dark…and what it means to truly see, will be presented 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3 at the Uptown Campus of the University at Albany.
Featuring images created by the blind and visually impaired photographers of the Seeing with Photography Collective and original jazz music will be performed live by the Daniel Kelly Trio. Photos by the Collective are projected while the musicians perform original jazz compositions inspired by the works of art and the photographers themselves. Recorded interviews with members of the Collective narrate the performance as the artists share their experience with vision loss as well as their journey to find healing and resiliency through artistic expression.
Based in New York City, the Seeing with Photography Collective’s work is a collaboration between visually impaired and sighted photographers.
Advance tickets to the performance are $15 for the general public and $10 for students, seniors and UAlbany faculty-staff. Tickets purchased on the day of the show are $20 for the general public and $15 for students, seniors and UAlbany faculty-staff.
