Shanahan claimed his first Jr. National title posting a 5-1 record in the 13-14-year-old. 48kg division. Shanahan recovered from an earlier overtime loss to claim the gold by beating the athlete who beat him in the double-elimination event. Burnt Hills Senior, Eric Skylar, 16, added a bronze medal in the 17-20-year-old 81kg category along with also claiming a silver in the first day of the event 15-16-year-old 81kg division to close out the JMJC medal count at the event.
Also, Nick Kossor, a 2016 JMJC Olympic hopeful, will be among those in action at the Liberty Games in Mekeel Christian Academy in Scotia Saturday, July 13.
