Bodywork Professionals Bring New Experiences to Saratoga Location

SARATOGA SPRINGS — For over 20 years, Bodywork Professionals owner Nick Pavoldi has been building his business into what it has become today. After spending time training in massage therapy across Florida, Colorado, and even Hawaii, he returned to his home region in Upstate New York to begin building his brand, which has now become Bodywork professionals.

The business started with Pavoldi working as a one-man operation, before things started to get busier, prompting him to slowly hire more and more therapists to help take care of each customer that came in. It’s been 20 years since Bodywork Professionals first opened, and the business now has a team of 30 dedicated massage professionals. Pavoldi says that anyone that comes into any of the three locations can feel assured that they will be taken care of by any and all of his employees.

“I recognize that lying face down on the table can often be a little intimidating in the beginning,” says Pavoldi, adding, “I think one of the things that I’d really like people to know is that they really are in good hands with the therapists that I have here, and they’re all really dedicated and caring professionals.”

Pavoldi also says that the main goal of the business is for every customer to walk out with their body feeling better than before. Rather than just focusing on massaging, the business focuses on bodywork, which Pavoldi explains is a process that goes deeper than the traditional relaxation and rejuvenation of a massage. While bodywork does provide those experiences as well, the main goal of a bodywork professional is to help improve the function and support of a customer’s muscular and skeletal systems.

To accomplish this, Bodywork professionals offers a wide variety of services for their customers, including softer options like the Swedish massage, up to more intense muscle work with deep tissue massages. They also offer medical massages, which aim to tailor the whole experience toward helping to relieve whatever pain the customer is experiencing.

“So, if you say you’re having a medical massage and your shoulder hurts, the whole massage is about your shoulder,” Pavoldi explains. “And it may not only be in your shoulder. You may have to work on the other shoulder, your low back, or your chest, or your neck.”

One of the newer services being offered at the office in Saratoga Springs is what’s known as a vibroacoustic table. It uses audio frequencies to produce vibrations throughout the table that then go through the person’s body, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Customers also have the option to wear headphones while they are on the table so they can be fully immersed in the music or sounds that are giving them that tactile experience. Customers that book an appointment in the Saratoga Springs office and arrive ahead of time can spend 10 to 15 minutes on the table. There is no extra cost associated with having this vibroacoustic experience.

Bodywork Professionals can be found across three locations: 109 Maple Avenue in Saratoga Springs, 578 New Loudon Road in Latham, and 1343 Balltown Road in Niskayuna. All three locations are open from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday, and 9am to 4pm on weekends.

North Country Wild Care: Gala Coming to Saratoga Springs

North Country Wild Care will host a gala in May in Saratoga Springs. Photo provided.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — For 24 years, North Country Wild Care has committed to protecting and revitalizing the wildlife across nine New York counties. From bunnies to hawks, and from tree frogs to deer, this non-profit organization has called on their network of licensed volunteer members to restore these animals to full health so they can successfully return to the wild.

“You have people with all different career experiences from all over the area, but we have this unified passion for helping wildlife,” said North Country Vice president Maureen Tusty.

“I think the majority of people came into volunteering because they had an experience where they found an animal, and they didn’t know how to help, or they didn’t know where to bring it, and they discovered the North Country hotline and then said, oh my, this is an amazing service. How can I help more? And so that’s how a lot of people get involved,” Tusty said. “People are very caring, and when these situations happen, they want to help, and that’s how they get involved with North Country. And that’s why I think our wildlife rehabilitators are committed to doing this, because it’s very hands-on. There’s an immediate need for it.”

Now receiving more than 22,000 calls per year, North Country continues to look for ways to spread knowledge and awareness about how to best protect and rejuvenate the nature that surrounds everyone.

As a way to spread some of that awareness, North Country Wild Care is holding a spring Gala event on Sunday, May 18 at the Gideon Putnam in Saratoga Springs. This event will give the public an opportunity to join members of North Country to learn more about how to help injured wildlife, or how to get more involved with the program if they are interested, all while enjoying food, live music, and other event activities.

Members of the organization will speak to attendees throughout the event about how to handle an injured or orphaned animal when it’s found, or how to get that animal to North Country as fast as possible. Long-time meteorologist and founder of the group Pet Connection Steve Caporizzo will be the keynote speaker at the spring gala.

North Country members will also be joined by some of the organization’s wildlife ambassadors, animals who were unable to return to full health and return to the wild. Gala participants will learn more about how these animals serve as helpers for the organization, going to enclosures and schools to act as educators for helping nature.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of menu options during the event, which will include vegetarian and vegan choices as well. Live music will also be provided during the meal from electro-acoustic group Tooty and the Mother Plucker, a husband-and-wife duo who are also members of North Country Wild Care.

Following the meal and speeches, there will be a silent auction available to everyone in attendance. All items up for auction, including many that are wildlife themed, are donated to the gala by local businesses, artists, and individuals. One major item will be a pontoon boat ride on Lake George, while others are expected to include wildlife gift baskets, art or craft work, and more. A wine raffle will also be taking place throughout the duration of the auction. All proceeds from both the auction and the raffle go towards supporting the mission of North Country Wild Care.

The Gideon Putnam is located at 24 Gideon Putnam Road. Visit https://ticketstripe.com/NCWC-Gala-2025 to buy tickets or donate to North Country Wild Care. More information about North Country Wild Care can be found at https://northcountrywildcare.org/. If you come across an injured or orphaned wild animal, you can call the emergency hotline number for North Country Wild Care at 518-964-6740.

Long-Time Boat and Trailer Dealer Making Big Strides in 2025

BURNT HILLS — One of the oldest dealerships in the Capital Region, first opening in 1954, is looking to make big strides forward in 2025 with its growing powersports division. That dealer is Andersen Boat, Trailers, & Powersports, who will be revving things up with a new inventory of vehicle and equipment options throughout the year.

Owners John Andersen and Chris Snyder are no strangers to the area: Andersen living in the region his whole life and Snyder for the last 10 years. With all of that time between them, they have created a recipe they use to take care of every one of their customers.

“It really just boils down to being kind, courteous, understanding them, and putting yourself in other people’s shoes,” said Snyder. “Treat them like you want to be treated.”

The two owners also want customers to be assured that they are there every single day looking to take care of any order or any issue that comes through the door.

“You have the owners working day in and day out. If there are any concerns or issues, we address them right away,” Snyder said. “We don’t push them off days, weeks, or months. We address them right then and there.”

Andersen’s offers a variety of options across their different divisions. Their line of trailers consists of 11 different brands and come in many sizes. Andersen’s offers trailers that range from small dump and utility trailers to 30,000-pound gooseneck equipment options. A total of approximately 130–140 are in stock at any time. Andersen’s services those trailers with three professional technicians onsite ready to work on any break or issue that might arise. Warranty options are also given to customers who want one.

The marine division offers several brands of boats, with Starcraft Marine being the main line in stock. However, the store has just picked up Crest Pontoons and made them available for purchase.

The powersports division has been a massive area of focus in recent times for the company, with big moves expected to come as 2025 goes on. The addition of Segway motorsports options like UTVs and side-by-sides has already been made to the store’s inventory. Meanwhile, ATVs, e-bikes, dirt bikes, and even motorcycles are expected to be added as summer comes closer.

The growth doesn’t stop here, however, as Andersen’s will be teaming up with Snyder’s Adventures, an automotive dealership endeavor from co-owner Chris Snyder. This collaboration is expected to bring a boost in resources and knowledge to Andersen’s to help them grow even more moving forward. With this addition, the powersports and trailer divisions of the company will be under the name A&S Sales and Service, while the 70-year-old Andersen boat division continues under the same name.

Andersen’s has been a constant part of the community, bringing their products to a variety of fairs and boat shows, while also holding many open house events at the dealership itself.

Andersen’s is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. They are also open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and available by appointment on Sundays.

The dealership is located at 883 Route 50 in Burnt Hills. Visit www.andersenboat.com. for more information.

Local Solar Company Brings Renewable Energy to Saratoga County

SARATOGA SPRINGS — With a passion for renewable energy coming out of college, Jim Minogue knew that he had a future somewhere in the field. After working in the solar industry for several years, he decided it was time to move in his own direction. “It’s a pleasure to be a part of a community that’s growing so much. It’s not just a destination in the summer for people anymore. New Brunch Spot Opens in Saratoga Springs

photo provided.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — As spring comes into bloom, a new brunch restaurant has opened up in Saratoga Springs. Run by chef Adam Foti, the PDT Maison is looking to add something new to the area with its blend of breakfast, brunch, and dinner options meant to entice anyone that visits, while also providing an atmosphere that inspires people to stick around for as long as they like.

Foti is no stranger to the region, however, running PDT Catering in the Saratoga County area since 2013, while also being part of several other restaurants over the years. PDT Catering was expanded to include food trucks in 2023, and Foti was also part of the team running PC Market, now Franklin Square Market, until mid-2023. He said that opening his own restaurant was the natural next step in his journey.

With his family coming from Quebec and Sicily, Foti said he has always known what scratch-made home cooking is like, and he wanted to bring that into the restaurant for everyone to enjoy.

“It’s just sort of baked into my DNA. We just want to take care of people and make good quality scratch-made food,” Foti said. “Good food is made with good ingredients.”

With all food including dressings made from scratch, Foti said that customers can be sure that their food is clean, with no additives like preservatives or high-fructose corn syrup.

The menu for PDT Maison has plenty of options to choose from, including items like a Saratoga club sandwich, falafel or chicken Caesar wraps, a Parisian or Firenze sandwich, protein bowls, several salads, smash burgers, French toast, quiche, popovers, arancini, crapes, and more. Foti said there are also more options coming to the menu in the near future, such as mac & cheese, lobster mac & cheese, and a lobster roll.

The PDT Maison menu also offers dessert options like French macaroons, chocolate mousse, and cannoli dip. Gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options are available on the menu as well. Foti and his team are also working on steps to add a cocktail menu to the roster sometime in the near future that will offer Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and more.

The PDT Maison is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Monday. Customers have the option to order at the restaurant or order in advance online. The restaurant is also available to host private parties, such as weddings, work meetings, luncheons, and more.

PDT Maison is located at 35 Maple Avenue. Visit www.pdtmaison.com for more information.

Real ID Required Starting May 7 – How To Get It

SARATOGA SPRINGS – May 7 marks the day when all U.S. citizens will see a change to rules surrounding their ID cards as the country shifts to what is known as the Real ID.

This new ID is more than a cosmetic change, as every person will need one if they plan to enter a federal government building, board a domestic commercial flight, or enter a nuclear power facility.

A Real ID can be recognized by the small star symbol on the card, which indicates its federal compliance with DHS regulations.

There is another acceptable form of ID within New York State that meets the same level of criteria as the Real ID. This is known as an Enhanced Driver License (EDL), which can be identified by the flag symbol on the card. However, this enhanced license is different in just a few ways, such as using it to cross the border back into the United States by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, and some Caribbean countries, which the Real ID does not permit. An EDL cannot be used for international air travel.

To obtain a Real ID or EDL, residents are required to visit their local DMV office with a list of documents to verify identity and residency within the state. It is not possible to initially obtain either ID type online. A list of specific documents and other requirements are as follows.

One proof of identity, such as U.S. birth certificate, proof of legal presence, or a passport.

Two proofs of physical address within New York State.

A social security card if issued one, or other acceptable alternatives that show a person’s SSN such as a W-2 form, an SSA-1099 form, a non-SSA-1099 form, or a pay stub with the person’s SSN on it.

A current driver license for those looking to exchange one issued by another state.

First-time applicants will be required to take a new photo for their ID.

Those upgrading to a Real ID will not pay any additional fees other than the standard DMV license renewal fee. Those upgrading to an EDL will pay an extra $30 for making the change.

All information about the two ID types including features and payment information can be found on the New York State DMV website, along with a document guide with a checklist of everything required when securing an upgrade.

Those who have an Enhanced Driver License or a valid passport will not be required to obtain a Real ID for domestic travel. Those under the age of 18 also will not be required to obtain a Real ID, however, any adult traveling with a minor will still have to show a Real ID, EDL, or passport when going through TSA. Those who do not plan to travel or enter federal facilities also will not be required to obtain a Real ID or EDL. A Real ID cannot be used for international travel of any kind, so it is not a replacement for a passport.

This change to the ID system has been a long time coming, with the new standards initially set by the U.S. Congress in 2005. This piece of legislation looked to increase the standard for identification verification, following the recommendations laid out in the final report by the 9/11 Commission, with enforcement initially set for 2008. However, due to numerous setbacks in integration nationwide, that enforcement has been continuously delayed, with some of the most recent of those delays coming in 2020 and 2022 due to COVID-19 disruptions, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The goal of the Real ID, according to the department’s website, is to ensure a higher standard of identification for those accessing federally run facilities and flights.

For more information about the Real ID and a detailed list of frequently asked questions, visit https://www.dhs.gov/real-id/about-real-id.
