Nov. 30: Victorian Streetwalk Returns to Spa City

SARATOGA SPRINGS — The 37th Annual Victorian Streetwalk promises a magical night in downtown Saratoga Springs on Thursday Nov. 30.

The event, presented by the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association, takes place 6 – 9 p.m. Broadway will be closed from Ellsworth Jones Place to the Washington Street intersection. 

A traditional tree lighting will be held at 6 p.m. to help kick off the holiday season. Immediately following the tree lighting, children will have the opportunity to visit Santa in his Cottage. 

Celebrate the 200th Anniversary of “Twas The Night Before Christmas.” Pamela McColl, author and publisher, will teach about the history of the beloved poem. A dedicated table for Toys for Toga outside G. Willikers store will be collecting new and unwrapped toys for local children. Toys for Toga invites the community to contribute, ensuring every child experiences the magic of the season.

More than 25 sites will feature free entertainment, including the Racing City Chorus, Road Soda Pop, South Glens Falls High School a capella group (Vocal Point), Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Select High School Choir, Saratoga City Ballet, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Choir, Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus, Sax-O-Claus, Jacksland, Lenox, Bill Gervasio, Six Penny Bit, Kids Peace Band, Capitaland Chorus, John & Orion Kribs, The Dance Lab, Saratoga Youth Ballet, Victorian Keepsake Photos by Johnny Miller LLC, Sparkles the Juggler,  Sonny & Perley Duo, Dance Fire Studio, Stephen Crouth, Acadia Rae performing with her hula hoop, Abundant Life Church, Pura Vida Kettle Corn, Nacre Dance Group, Catholic Charities Festival of Trees, Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The festivities continue until 9 p.m. throughout downtown Saratoga Springs.

Racing City Chorus Invites Singers for Holiday Performances

SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Racing City Chorus from Saratoga Springs invites men 18 and older from the Greater Capital District to sing with them at two upcoming holiday performances. 

Criteria: Learn two songs by attending at least two upcoming Tuesday night rehearsals, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, 12 at the PBA Clubhouse, 5 Bliven Way, Saratoga Springs, and November 28 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park.

Instruction will be provided by chorus members. Attendees will receive free sheet music. and learning tracks on either CD or digital download. 

Performances are at Saratoga Victorian Streetwalk on Thursday, Nov. 30, inside the Adirondack Trust Bank, and Greenwich High School, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16.

Firefighters and Police Hit the Ice

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Saturday, Nov. 18 will be a busy day at the Saratoga Springs Ice Rink on Weibel Ave. After Skidmore takes on New England College, Saratoga firefighters and police officers will square off in the Holiday Hockey Classic.

The game is expected to start around 7pm. Admission is free with the donation of an unwrapped toy. 

The Classic benefits the Franklin Community Center’s Holiday Assistance Program, which aims to deliver a Christmas present to every Saratoga child that needs one.

This will be the fifth Holiday Hockey Classic. According to the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, each event has yielded bigger crowds and more donations. In 2022, the match raised over $1,000, and more than 700 toys were donated.

Christopher Dailey Foundation Thanksgiving Day Saratoga Turkey Trot Open For Sign-Ups

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23, the Christopher Dailey Foundation will host their 22nd Annual Christopher Dailey 5K Saratoga Turkey Trot. The Run/Walk will be held on Broadway in Saratoga Springs starting at 8:30 a.m.  

All proceeds from the event will support the Christopher Dailey Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting youth needs in the Saratoga community since 2002. For instructions on how to register online, in person, or by mail, visit: christopherdaileyfoundation.com. 

Caffe Lena at SPAC: Darlingside to Perform Dec. 3.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Boston-based quartet Darlingside will be staging a show at Spa Little Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 3. The intimate, 500-seat theater is located across from the Hall of Springs. 

The group are on tour in support of their recent album “Everything Is Alive.”  

Comprised of Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, Harris Paseltiner and David Senft, the four likeminded multi-instrumentalists first met at Williams College in 2009. 

The show is billed as a Caffe Lena at SPAC performance. Caffè Lena has been part of Darlingside’s growth ever since 2013, when they first played the Saratoga venue as part of a mid-week Emerging Artist Breakout series.
