SARATOGA SPRINGS – Kathleen DiSanto entered into the light on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in South Amboy, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Esther Tatnell and John Lotwis and the treasured wife of Charles Gentile DiSanto for 68 years. Kathy was a graduate of Evander Childs High School and continued her education as a nurse cadet at Adelphi University. Soon afterwards, she earned her Master’s in Nursing from NYU. She worked as a dedicated visiting nurse and later as a school nurse teacher in the Mt. Vernon, Scarsdale, and Great Neck, NY school districts for over 30 years.
Throughout her life she was a valued activist in her church and community. Her local volunteer efforts impacted the Skidmore Scholarship Fund, Saratoga Hospital Foundation, and Mary’s Haven, a hospice home.
Kathy was predeceased by her dear brother John Lotwis and sisters-in-law Helen and Marian. She is survived by her husband and best friend Charlie, beloved daughter and son-in-law Mary and Gary DiSanto-Rose, loving grandchildren, Maria and Matthew, cherished nieces and nephews and countless treasured cousins and friends.
We dedicate this poem to our beloved Kathy:
“Her strength was in her giving, from which she always did her best.
She gave in many ways, and for this we are so blessed.
She gave with love and thoughtful notes, with news clippings of that day.
We read, we laughed, and always knew she cared for us, in her special way.
And now it’s time to return the gift and make a note anew,
So to Gigi, Kathy, or Mom we say,
We will always love and remember you.
Thank You and Peace be with You!”
The celebration of Kathy’s life will be at the Church of St Peter, 241 Broadway in Saratoga Springs on Saturday, November 21, 2015. The family will greet relatives and friends at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
