Albert John Vance Jr.

GANSEVOORT – Albert John Vance Jr., 80, a resident of Jewell Rd., passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his family. Born January 22, 1936 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Albert John and Dorothy Mundell Vance Sr. Mr. Vance was a 63-year member of the Gansevoort Volunteer Fire Department, having served as Past Chief and Commissioner, and was currently President. He retired from Labor Union #157 in Albany. He had worked with his own logging business and Advance Excavating for several years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Vance in 2013; his sister, Elizabeth Vance and brother, Gary Vance. Survivors include his children, Elizabeth Vance of Indian Lake, Earl Vance of Gansevoort, Steven (Michele) Vance of Indian Lake, Paul (Jean) Vance of Stillwater, Christopher (Judy) Vance of Moreau, and Albert John Vance III of Gansevoort; two brothers, Wayne (Maryann) Vance of Florida and Harold (Betty) Vance of Gansevoort; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special friend Georgia Ball of Gansevoort. A memorial service and gathering for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Gansevoort Volunteer Fire Department, 1870 Route 32N in Gansevoort.
