Alexander Michael Ventrella
GALWAY – On the morning of November 10, 2016, Alexander Michael Ventrella passed peacefully in his sleep. He was 27 years old.
Alex was born in the city of Saratoga Springs on November 11, 1988. Alex was the second child and first son of Jeanne M. Whalen and John M. Ventrella Jr. Alex was always a shy and inquisitive child growing up, always asking questions about various things but mostly about how things work. His sisters jokingly referring to him as “Alex Trebek” due to the amount and variety of the inquiries he had presented about life thus far. Alex’s sister, Drew, lovingly nicknamed him “Elliot” at a young age as well.
Throughout his life Alex enjoyed collecting various items such as coins and Pokemon cards. Alex grew up and out of his shyness, and his curiosity turned to electronics. Alex was intrigued by their inner workings and had to figure out exactly how they operated. When this interest in technology was sparked, Alex began to take apart computers and game consoles and reassembled them. Many of his friends turned to him when they needed help, referring to him as their “technical support.”
Often in his downtime he would watch Yankees games with his father. Alex also cherished spending afternoons crafting with his mother. Whenever Layla, his youngest sister, heard he was visiting she’d dress up like a princess, saying “I’m getting pretty for my brother, Alex!”
Alexander Michael Ventrella is survived by his mother Jeanne M. Whalen (Robert Armer) and father John M. Ventrella Jr (Kimberly Ventrella); sisters Ginnie Tupman (children Freesia and Ezra Neal), Drew (children Kassidy, Jayden, and Shayla Green), and Layla; his grandparents Wallace Whalen, Dolores Diehl (Ed), John Ventrella Sr. and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
