Albert V. Hunt

Middle Grove, NY- Albert V. Hunt, 67, died March 18, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born June 13, 1944, in Batavia, NY, he was the son of the late Albert V. Hunt and Helen Curtin Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Batavia, class of 1962. From high school, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo. He married his wife, Anita Cappiello, July 2, 1966. He then earned his master’s in education from St. Michael's College in Vermont. Upon graduation, he was hired by the Niskayuna School District where he worked as a sixth grade teacher for over 32 years. Albert was a dedicated educator who believed it couldn't be considered work if you enjoyed it as much as he did! During his time at Niskayuna, he earned his second master’s degree from the University at Albany.

In addition to his years in education, Albert and his wife, Anita, owned and operated Atlas Pool Company in Ballston Spa for over 20 years. Upon retirement from the school district and selling his business, Mr. Hunt worked for NYRA as a security guard. Albert thoroughly enjoyed his work with the Saratoga Race Course, especially during the track meet when his position at the track was guarding and overseeing the VIP Lounge and Press Box within the track. Albert felt very fortunate to have such diverse yet fulfilling careers throughout his life. Mr. Hunt was also fond of traveling, especially to the Caribbean.

Survivors include his wife of over 46 years, Anita Hunt; children, Robert A. (Heather) Hunt, Danielle (Michael) Pelham and Renee H. (Matthew) Carollo; and seven grandchildren, Mattalyn, Sydney and Ava Carollo, Nicholas and Zachary Pelham and Briton and Porter Hunt.
