Rockets 101 at Brookside Museum
Saratoga County History Center at Brookside Museum is proud to present a free children’s STEM program in partnership with the Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci).
During this special program, children will learn about the history of rocketry and then use a variety of materials to create a rocket, with the goal of successfully lifting the heaviest possible payload. This program will take place at Saratoga County History Center from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on November 7, 2026, and is ideal for children from ages 7-12.
This special program is inspired by our current temporary exhibition, Luther Forest: A Family, A Woodland, A Legacy, and draws from the local history of the Malta Test Station. Established in 1945, this experimental site in Malta and Stillwater was utilized for the testing of new fuels, engines and explosives during the Cold War. This special program is the first time that miSci will offer Rockets 101, inspired by this local connection to the history of American rocketry.
“We are so looking forward to this exciting and interactive event, which will offer children the opportunity to have fun while learning about important concepts in science and technology,” said Anne Hollmuller, Executive Director at Saratoga County History Center. “We are excited about this partnership with MiSci, and about the opportunity to be the first to host this new outreach program.”
Rockets 101 is offered with the support of a generous grant from the J.M. McDonald Foundation. This event is free; however registration is required at their website www.brooksidemuseum.org
