To inspire you, and to invite you to linger and chat with the vendors a bit, the Saratoga Farmers’ Market will hold its “Soup’s On” celebration this Saturday, January 26th, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Several vendors will ladle out free samples of homemade soup using their own ingredients. Featured soups will likely include a mushroom-vegetable soup, cheese soup, yogurt-infused soup, as well as soups with meat and soups with root vegetables.
Don’t be shy about asking for a recipe if you taste a soup you especially like. That’s one of the advantages of shopping at a farmers’ market: being able to talk to the people who grow the food and know how to prepare it.
I hope to see you at the market this weekend when the “Soup’s On!” The market is open 9 am to 1 p.m. every Saturday at Division Street Elementary School, and the soup event runs from 10 a.m. to noon.
