Empower Your Life with David Wolfe

Welcome to Wolfe’s Fitness Tip of the Week. This week we’re going back…With the Reverse Lunge ; )

The Reverse Lunge, like the Front Lunge, works the legs and core area. When you take a big step backwards, be sure that your back foot remains on the toes or ball of the foot and do not drop the heel to the floor. Dip the back knee down to floor level but don’t touch the floor; don’t smash the knee into the ground and get bruised knee caps; move with grace. Press off the back foot, as well as the front leg, and return to the upright standing split position. Be mindful: though this exercise can be performed by just about anyone, I recommend light stretching before any physical exercise and/or consulting your doctor before attempting any physical fitness activity. This is a great one for at home or the office…You don’t need a lot of space at all : )

Since childhood, David Wolfe was engaged with various sports such as baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, tennis, volleyball and track and field. Competitors were most of the time taller or bigger compared to his small body frame, so the David and Goliath storyline was a consistent theme he revisited in sports.

In high school, he wrestled and attended Dan Gable’s Wrestling Camp in Iowa. There he learned how the body could be conditioned with great strength and agility by tapping into the mental capacities of the mind. After getting certified in fitness and nutrition and graduating from SUNY New Paltz with a B.A. and Masters in Professional Studies in Humanistic/Multicultural Education, David saw the need to pass along to others what he has learned about the mind-body relationship. For over fifteen years he has helped a diverse population of individuals and groups work towards optimal health at a number of different fitness facilities and has designed unique boot camp classes as well as tailored one-on-one fitness and wellness programs.

Now 35 years old, with extensive knowledge of training styles and approaches in his training tool belt, David hopes to continue helping all people achieve optimal health in a meaningful way.
