SARATOGA SPRINGS — Brothers Joseph and Michael Barcia both claimed medals for their performance in the ring at this past weekend’s Silver Gloves.
Michael, 12, won a split decision over Marcus Floyd, 13, of Buffalo. Joseph Barcia, 14, defeated Gregory O’Neil, 15, of Rochester in a unanimous decision.
Both brothers advance to the regionals, which take place the first week in January with a chance to go to Missouri for nationals. They will be training five days a week with Saratoga Boxing’s Tyrone Jackson and Andy Ferragon.
