Alinda Bradley Nichols

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Alinda Bradley Nichols, 53, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at Wesley Health Care Center, after a 17-year battle with a Traumatic Brain Injury. Born on Oct. 13, 1963 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late John “Jack” and Rogene Bradley and grew up there with her siblings David and Aleah. Alinda graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1981 where she was active in sports, including field hockey, softball, basketball and volleyball. Alinda was an extremely kind and considerate person, always putting others needs and feelings before her own. Her beauty was not only external but shined through her caring and thoughtful gestures. Alinda cherished her family and friends. Her sister Aleah’s unwavering support and dedication to her care and wellbeing was a present throughout her life and illness, a devotion that exemplified the beauty of family Alinda loved so much. Her outgoing personality embodied the spirit of hospitality that is the trademark of her hometown. She met Charles "Kirk" Nichols in 1985, they married in 1988 and purchased a B&B across from the Saratoga Race Course in 1994. They operated the Brunswick Bed and Breakfast together for five years and Kirk carried on their dream after her illness. She was constantly thinking of others and even prior to her injury progressing she insisted that the morning muffins at the Brunswick were always to be homemade from scratch; a promise Kirk kept.  Survivors include her husband Kirk Nichols; loving sisters Aleah (Kirk) Wendell, Tracy Bradley (John) Bateholts; sisters-in-law Janice Bradley and Elizabeth Nichols, all of the Saratoga Springs area; brother-in-law Kent Nichols of Chicago, IL; two cherished nieces and a nephew Casey, Kayley and Christopher Bradley and several aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her mother Rogene and father Jack, Alinda was predeceased by her brother David and stepmother Mary Bradley. The family would like to thank the Saratoga Hospital nurses and doctors, especially the Palliative Care team and Community Hospice of Saratoga. Also, the family would like to acknowledge, with deep gratitude, the Wesley Community for the unbelievable care and support provided to Alinda for so many years. Every caregiver treated her like a member of their own family, which was always a great comfort. Rest assured she is now on the beach reading a good book with the warmth of the sun on her face and the gentle sound of the surf in the background. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at the William J. Burke and Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes of Saratoga Springs. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alinda’s memory to The Wesley Foundation, Neil Roberts Enrichment Fund, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com.
