Mark B. Baldwin, 29, of Ballston Spa was sentenced March 1 to five years of probation, after pleading to felony DWI, in Saratoga Springs.

Travis M. Moore, 39, of Ticonderoga, was sentenced Feb. 28 to 24 days in jail and five years of probation, after pleading to attempted forgery in the second-degree, in Wilton. 

Tiffany L. Killian, 36, of South Glens Falls, was sentenced Feb. 27 to five years of probation, after pleading to aggravated DWI with a child, a felony. 

POLICE

James A. Lorman, age 31, of Watervliet, was charged Feb. 27 with Criminal Sexual Act in the First-Degree/ Forcible Compulsion felony, and Sexual Abuse in the First-Degree/ Forcible Compulsion-felony, regarding an alleged incident that occurred Feb. 24 on Church Street involving a 21-year-old woman. Lorman was arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail on no bail, according to city police. 

Anthony F. Parisi, age 61, Saratoga Springs, was charged March 1 with aggravated unlicensed operation third degree- misdemeanor; no/expired inspection certificate; equipment (rear lights) manuf. after January 1952 

Anne E Cummins, age 40, Saratoga Springs, was charged Feb. 28 with endangering the welfare of a child- misdemeanor; harassment second degree - physical contact. 

Daniel C. Gillick, age 69, Saratoga Springs, was charged Feb. 28 with petit larceny- misdemeanor. 

Brian J. Raymond, age 48, Saratoga Springs, was charged Feb. 28 with criminal mischief fourth degree/recklessly damages- misdemeanor. 

Richard W. Doyle, age 56, Ballston Spa, was charged Feb. 28 with driving while intoxicated- 2nd offense- felony; consumption of alcoholic beverages; aggravated driving while intoxicated- felony. 

Michael G. Householder, age 47, Saratoga Springs, was charged Feb. 26 with driving while intoxicated- 2nd offense- felony; aggravated driving while intoxicated- felony; operating unregistered motor vehicle on highway. 

Matthew J. McGovern, age 21, Glens Falls, and Victor A Maffetone, age 32, Saratoga Springs, were each charged Feb. 26 with criminal possession of marijuana fifth-degree - misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana. 

John T. Lancia, age 21, Port Chester, was charged Feb. 26 with harassment second degree - physical contact; criminal mischief in the second degree- felony. 

Samuel A. Gendron, age 29, Cohoes, was charged Feb. 26 with criminal mischief in the third degree- felony; reckless endangerment in the second degree - misdemeanor; criminal mischief fourth degree/ damages property- misdemeanor; leaving the scene of an auto accident (property). 

Erik A. Pagan, age 45, Saratoga Springs, was charged Feb. 25 with assault in the third degree/intent physical injury - misdemeanor; endangering the welfare of a child- misdemeanor/ 3 counts; strangulation 2-obstruct breath/blood circulation- felony; unlawful imprisonment in the first degree- felony. 

Emanuel Mitchell, age 53, Saratoga Springs, was charged Feb. 25 with failed to stop at stop sign; aggravated unlicensed operation third-degree- misdemeanor; operate motor vehicle by unlicensed driver. 

 

Pedestrian Killed in Ballston

A 32-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a car Sunday night on NYS Route 50 near the intersection of Tomaselli Court in the Town of Ballston. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reported their investigation has shown that Bryan E. Mei, 42, was south bound on NYS Route 50 driving a 2013 Nissan Maxima when he struck pedestrian Todd M. Johnson, 32, of Schenectady. Mei immediately stopped and reported the crash. It was determined that Mei was not under the influence and no charges are expected against him in this case. Johnson was in the roadway when the collision occurred. The crash is still under investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation and Collision Reconstruction Units.

Jammel A. Dillon, 28, of South Glens Falls, was sentenced Feb. 15 to 4 years in state prison, after pleading to attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance, in Moreau, and to 1 to 3 years in state prion after failing to register as a sex offender. 

Robert W. Rivers, 35, of Saratoga Springs, pleaded Feb. 15 to criminal contempt 1st degree, Sentencing scheduled April 5. 

Sean P. Bass, 30, of Schuylerville, pleaded Feb. 15 to criminal sexual act in the first-degree, in Saratoga Springs. Sentencing scheduled March 29. 

Tammera E. Brown, 52, of Wilton, was sentenced Feb. 13 to five years of probation, after pleading to attempted assault in the second-degree, in Northumberland. 

Juan C. Rodriguez, 32, of Niskayuna, was sentenced Feb. 11 to two years in state prison, after pleading to attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, in Wilton. 

Paul J. Palso, 32, of Ballston Spa, pleaded Feb. 11 to second degree assault, in Ballston Spa. Sentencing scheduled April 2. 

Joseph R. Korfhage, 25, of Milton, was sentenced Feb. 21 to 10 years of probation, after pleading to first degree rape, in Ballston. 

Scott F. Luciano, 32, of Galway, and Shane A. Nadolny, 41, of Ballston Spa, were each sentenced Feb. 20 to five years in prison and five years post-release supervision, after their respective convictions for robbery in the second-degree. The charges relate to an incident that occurred on Caroline Street in Saratoga Springs. The co-defendants were also ordered to pay restitution of the money stolen from their victim. 

Brian S. McEnteggart, 25, of Mechanicville, was sentenced Feb. 19 to 60 days in jail and five years of probation, after pleading to grand larceny in the fourth-degree, in Saratoga Springs. 

POLICE

Meghann K. Blain, 37, of Ballston Spa, was charged Feb. 19 with the felonies: offering a false instrument for filing in the first-degree; grand larceny in the fourth-degree; welfare fraud in the fourth-degree. Blain is suspected of committing public assistance fraud by submitting documentation to the Saratoga County Department of Social Services to obtain benefits she was not entitled to receive.  The filing of the false documents allowed Blain to obtain $1,542 in benefits she was not entitled to receive.

 

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and NYS Liquor Authority Compliance Operation

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the NYS Liquor Authority conducted a two-day compliance operation throughout Saratoga County on Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb. 16. The goal of the operation was to check for proper identification procedures as well as curb underage drinking and the ability for persons under 21 years of age to purchase alcoholic beverages in the county.  In total, over 80 retail sales stores - gas stations, liquor stores, bars - were checked during the two-day period. 

Authorities said as a result of the operation, the following 12 locations and their employee(s) were cited for violations of section 65-1 of the NYS Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, sale of an alcoholic beverage to a person under the age of twenty-one years: City Sports Grille (Sparetime Bowling Alley), St. Rt. 9 in the Town of Halfmoon; Speedway, 100 Commerce Drive in the Town of Clifton Park; Speedway, 229 Church Avenue in the Town of Ballston; The Whitehouse Restaurant and Bar, 95 Milton Ave in the Village of Ballston Spa; Post Time Wine and Spirits, 170 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs; Red Cap Mobile, 177 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs; Humbuggs, 569 Gansevoort Road in the Town of Moreau; Friendly Spirits, Wines & Liquors, 1346 St. Rt. 9 in the Town of Moreau; Tim’s Discount Liquors, 139 St. Rt. 9 in the Town of Moreau; Jones and 50 Wine and Spirits, 4208 St. Rt. 50 in the Town of Wilton; Stewarts Shops, 43 Bluebird Road in the Town of Moreau; Gulf Gas Station, 10 Round Lake Road in the Town of Malta. All 12 employees were issued appearance tickets to answer in the local court of jurisdiction at a later date. The establishments will face violations, sanctions, and fines by the NYS Liquor Authority.

William J. Barber, 56, of Middle Grove, pleaded Feb. 7 to assault in the second-degree, in Milton. Sentencing April 4. 

Jeffrey M. Castro, 25, of Fort Edward, was sentenced Feb. 4 to 1 year in jail, after pleading to criminal possession of a weapon in the third-degree, in Moreau. 

William Hoffay, 44, of Averill Park, was sentenced Feb. 4 to serve 10.5 to 21 years in state prison, in connection with a series of burglaries that occurred in April and May 2018 in Saratoga County.

Terresa M Constantine, age 39, Johnsonville, was charged on Feb. 8 with unauthorized use of a vehicle third/no consent- misdemeanor. 

Joe L Still, age 28, Saratoga Springs, was charged on Feb. 7 with criminal contempt first degree- felony 

Danielle M Rau, age 30, Saratoga Springs, was charged on Feb. 7 with criminal mischief fourth degree/intent damage property- misdemeanor. 

Keri A Cooper, age 29, Saratoga Springs, was charged on Feb. 5 with aggravated unlicensed operation third degree- misdemeanor. 

Kyle C Hitchcock, age 27, Malta, was charged on Feb. 5 with attempted assault in the 3rd degree/intent physical injury- misdemeanor; criminal trespass third degree/building or property- misdemeanor.

Mona L Nordstrom, age 50, Saratoga Springs, was charged on Feb. 4 with assault in the second degree/deadly weapon- felony; criminal possession of a weapon third degree- felony; endangering the welfare of a child- misdemeanor. At around 11:52 p.m. on Feb. 2, officers were called to the Adirondack Inn on West Avenue for a reported assault, according to police. Upon arrival officers discovered a 33-year-old male with a puncture wound to his left chest. Saratoga Springs Fire responded and transported the male to Saratoga Hospital. Investigation showed the victim (and an uninvolved female) had been with Nordstrom at Nordstrom’s motel room shortly before the call. A disagreement had taken place in the room between the victim and Nordstrom and Nordstrom went after the victim with a knife. Nordstrom allegedly inflicted the stab wound to the victim’s chest at that time. The male and the uninvolved female then exited the room and contacted authorities. Nordstrom was taken into custody at the motel shortly after officers arrived. The injuries were not life threatening. Nordstrom was arraigned and subsequently released on her own recognizance.   

Natalie C Rutigliano, age 35, Saratoga Springs, was charged on Feb. 4 with offering a false instrument for filing first- felony; welfare fraud in the fifth degree- misdemeanor. 

Brian D Grogan, age 46, Greenfield Center, was charged on Feb. 3 with driving while intoxicated- misdemeanor; unsafe lane change; consumption of alcoholic beverages; fail to signal - turn, change lanes, parked; refuse pre-screen test. 

Sean P Kerls, age 40, Saratoga Springs, was charged on Feb. 2 with assault in the third degree/intent physical injury- misdemeanor. 

Shavar D Fields, age 27, Albany, was charged on Feb. 2 with unauthorized use of a vehicle third/no consent- misdemeanor. 

Dexter L Thaxton, age 31, Greenfield, was charged on Feb. 2 with driving while intoxicated- misdemeanor. Thaxton was arrested at 4:08 a.m. after being involved in a one-car property damage accident. 

Jonathan M Licata, age 47, Lake Luzerne, was charged on Feb. 2 with leaving the scene of an auto accident (property); unreasonable speed; driving while intoxicated- 2nd offense- felony; criminal mischief fourth degree/recklessly damages- misdemeanor. Licata was charged at 3:20 a.m. after being involved in a property damage accident. 

Frederick E Jenks, age 67, Greenfield Center, was charged on Feb. 1 with disorderly conduct; trespass; menacing third- misdemeanor.

Man Pleads Guilty to Wilton Homicide

BALLSTON SPA — A 40-year-old man pleaded guilty in Saratoga County Court on Feb. 11 - admitting that he negligently discharged a firearm inside his Wilton motel room last October, which subsequently caused the death of Michael Kornacki. 

Daniel A. Salas Miranda pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and criminal possession of a weapon. Both charges are felonies. 

The incident occurred Oct. 7, 2018 at the Crest Inn - a motel on Route 9 owned by the family who also own Prestige Limousine – the company whose vehicle was involved in a crash last fall in Schoharie County where 20 people were killed. The two events are unrelated, according to police. 

Miranda admitted in court that he negligently discharged a firearm inside his motel room and that the bullet traveled through the wall of an adjoining room where it struck and killed Kornacki. Miranda also acknowledged that after negligently firing the pistol, he brought it to another room at the motel in an attempt to hide the weapon, according the district attorney’s office. 

Sentencing is scheduled for April 9, at which time it is anticipated Miranda will be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, followed by post-release supervision, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s office.

Tylor R. Green, 24, of Camden, Tennessee, was sentenced Jan. 30 to time served and five years of probation, after pleading to criminal possession of a firearm in Saratoga County, a felony. 

John R. Bellon, 25, of Porter Corners, was sentenced Jan. 30 to 2.5 years in state prison, after pleading to one felony county criminal possession and one felony count criminal sale of a controlled substance.    

Joshua L. Corbisiero, 41, of Wilton, pleaded Jan. 29 to felony assault. Sentencing scheduled April 1. 

Isaiah M. Robinson, 23, of Saratoga Springs was sentenced Jan. 29 to six months in jail and five years of probation, after pleading to felony burglary.

Alexis V. Khemili, age 25, Clifton Park, was charged on Feb. 1 with unsafe lane change; aggravated unlicensed operation third degree- misdemeanor. 

Edward Jamie L. Volpe, age 53, Fort Edward, was charged on Jan. 31 with criminal trespass in the second degree- misdemeanor. 

Antonio V. Quesada, age 53, Saratoga Springs, and Richard M Settles, age 60, Saratoga Springs, were each charged Jan. 29 with one count criminal trespass in the third degree- misdemeanor. 

Andrew J. Rocco, age 25, Saratoga Springs, was charged Jan. 29 with growing cannabis by an unlicensed person; criminal possession of marijuana – felony; criminally using drug paraphernalia second-degree- misdemeanor; criminal contempt second-degree / disobedience- misdemeanor. 

Patrick E. Sullivan, age 33, Troy, was charged Jan. 29 with obscenity in the third degree- misdemeanor. 

John A. Vrana, age 57, Riverside, was charged Jan. 29 with issuing a bad check/knowing no funds- misdemeanor.

Dezmond A. Slade, 35, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Jan. 30 with Grand Larceny in the third-degree; criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second-degree; two counts falsifying business records in the first-degree.  Slade is employed as a Corrections Officer at the Saratoga County Correctional Facility and served as the President of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Officers Association (SCSOA) from May 2015 through December 2018.  The SCSOA is the Union that represents Corrections Officers, Jail Cooks, Communications Officers and Civil Employees. During Slade’s tenure as President of the SCSOA, he is accused of using the Union credit card to obtain cash and to pay for personal expenses in excess of $4,500.  Slade is also accused of making cash withdrawals from SCSOA accounts in excess of $11,000, for a total theft of more than $15,000, resulting in the Grand Larceny charge.  Slade is accused of providing a forged document during the investigation in an attempt to conceal his theft.  The charges for Falsifying Business Records are a result of false entries Slade allegedly made in the business records as well as omissions in the business records of the SCSOA, that were made or omitted in an attempt to conceal the theft. Slade was suspended without pay from his position at the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate other questionable financial transactions. 

Frank Bessette, 78, and Marian Bessette, 78, were both arrested following a domestic violence investigation in the Town of Malta, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. During the incident, Mr. Bessette struck his wife in the face causing injury to her left eye.  Mrs. Bessette used a knife to stab her husband, causing a minor wound to his chest.  During the incident, Mr. Bessette also grabbed and threw the phone as Mrs. Bessette attempted to contact authorities.  Mrs. Bessette was charges with Assault in the Second-Degree and Mr. Bessette was charged with Assault in the Third-Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth-Degree.

Robert J. Loya, age 30, Saratoga Springs, was charged Jan. 28 with two felony counts criminal possession of stolen property and identity theft, three felony counts forgery in the second-degree/deed, credit card, and the misdemeanor counts forgery in the third-degree, and theft of services/stolen credit card in connection with several unauthorized transactions made on an allegedly stolen credit card.

David G. Ralph, age 61, Ballston Spa, was charged Jan. 24 with driving while intoxicated- 2nd offense- felony; aggravated driving while intoxicated- misdemeanor; unreasonable speed; following motor vehicle too closely. Ralph was charged after being involved in a property damage accident. Ralph collided into the rear of a vehicle which was stopped at a red light. The vehicle stopped at the red light was a marked Saratoga Springs Police Department patrol car. 

William A. Tate, age 43, Saratoga Springs, was charged Jan. 23 with harassment second degree - physical contact. 

Scott A. Smith, age 41, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Jan. 23 with aggravated DWI – child in vehicle felony; endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless driving - misdemeanors, and improper lane use. According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office, authorities responded to a call of a reckless driver on Jones Rd. in the town of Wilton. The vehicle in question allegedly proceeded to strike another vehicle in the drop-off area of Dorothy Nolan Elementary school. Smith is accused of driving his vehicle while intoxicated at a time when two children under the age of 15 were in the vehicle. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

David A. Sylvia R Kool, age 24, Clifton Park, was charged Dec. 18 with burglary first degree - felony; criminal contempt first degree- 2 counts/ felony; assault in the second degree/deadly weapon- felony; criminal mischief in the third degree- felony; criminal possession of a weapon fourth degree- misdemeanor.  The charges are in connection with an alleged incident on Leonards Road, Saratoga Springs.
