July 27th – August 2nd, 2018

COURT

Ryan Freebern, 20, of Saratoga Springs, was sentenced July 16 to 5.5 years in state prison, after pleading to attempted rape in the first-degree, in conjunction with an incident that occurred in Wilton. 

Joseph B. Flower, 36, of Glenville, was sentenced July 16 to 2-4 years in state prison, after pleading to robbery in the third-degree, in Saratoga Springs. 

POLICE

David W. Parker, age 54, Saratoga Springs was charged July 23 with criminal possession of marijuana in the first-degree, a felony. The charge stems from a search warrant which was executed at Parker’s residence on July 10, according to police. Investigators seized over 11 pounds of marijuana, paraphernalia consistent with the packaging of marijuana, and more than $11,000 in U.S. currency, police said.     

William J. Barber, 56, of Milton, was charged July 23 with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. Barber is accused of striking an elder female family member several times with a baseball bat, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was taken to Saratoga Emergency Room then transferred to Albany Medical Center for treatment of multiple injuries. 

Ana P. Villalobattistozzi, age 31, Orlando, Florida was charged July 20 with failed to signal a turn; driving while intoxicated- misdemeanor; failure to keep right; refusal pre-screen test; operating a motor vehicle by unlicensed driver. 

Loreli Burkhouse, age 53, Mechanicville, was charged July 19 with operating a motor vehicle by unlicensed driver; driving while intoxicated- misdemeanor. 

Jessica L. Malliacirabisi, age 31, Saratoga Springs, was charged July 19 with petit larceny- misdemeanor. 

Frank E. Brimhall, age 53, Saratoga Springs, was charged July 19 with following motor vehicle too closely; aggravated unlicensed operation third degree- misdemeanor.

Kenneth K. Washburn, 54, of Schuylerville, was sentenced July 5 to two years determinate and 15 years post-release supervision, after pleading to attempted criminal sexual act in the first-degree and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Steven G. Stanek, age 41, Gansevoort, was charged on July 6 with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 2nd/refused chemical test- misd; failure to stop at stop sign. 

Terrence J. Rudes, age 26, Saratoga Springs, was charged on July 4 with petit larceny- misdemeanor. 

Joshua S. Kalloo, age 22, Saratoga Springs, was charged on July 4 with criminal trespass in the second degree- misdemeanor. 

Nicholas B. Angelo, age 29, of Amsterdam, was charged July 13 with felony robbery, and the misdemeanors menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon. Angelo is suspected of committing a robbery at the Stewart’s Shop at 521 Broadway, Saratoga Springs on May 29. According to City Police, Angelo displayed a knife and made off with just over $400 in cash.  At arraignment in Saratoga Springs City Court, bail was set at $30,000 cash, or $60,000 bond. After arraignment, Angelo was brought back to the Montgomery County Jail, where he is being held on other charges, police said. 

Julie A Gailor, age 52, of Saratoga Springs, was charged July 9 with arson third degree/intentionally damage build/motor vehicle- felony, criminal mischief in the second degree- felony, and petit larceny- misdemeanor. 

Scott F. Luciano, age 32, Galway, and Shane A. Nadolny, age 40, Ballston Spa, were each charged July 10 with two counts felony robbery. They are accused of assaulting and robbing a man of his wallet on Henry Street north of Lake Avenue. Both were arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail for lack of bail. 

Jahmeer O. Mayo, 20, Nyiana M. Wimberly, 18, Aleha S. Holton, 22 – all of Albany, were each charged July 3 with the misdemeanors criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny, and conspiracy, on the suspicion of shoplifting items at the Wilton Mall. The three individuals, in addition to one person under the age of 18 - were found to be in possession of stolen property valued at nearly $1,300, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. All were issued appearance tickets and are to appear in Wilton Court on a later date.

July 13th – July 19th, 2018

COURT

Dennis Jones, 64, of the town of Saratoga, pleaded to June 29 felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first-degree. The arrest and charges mark “the largest narcotics bust in recent memory,” said Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen.  The charges stemmed from a drug investigation and raid of Jones’ home on Route 32 in Saratoga by the county Sheriff’s Department. Jones was charged with the possession of 1.4 kilos of cocaine and 26 pounds of marijuana. Sentencing scheduled for Aug. 24. 

Anne E. Cummins, 39, pleaded June 29 to felony DWI, in Saratoga Springs. Sentencing scheduled Aug. 24. 

William H. Thompson, 35, of Ballston Lake, was sentenced July 2 to five years in state prison, after pleading to strangulation in the second-degree, a felony, in connection with an incident in Ballston. 

Jeffrey D. Hulett, 26, of Ballston Spa, pleaded July 2 to criminal contempt, in connection with an incident in Malta. Sentencing scheduled Nov. 7. 

John B. Goodson, 54, of Ballston Spa, was sentenced July 2 to eight months in jail, after pleading to felony DWI in Milton.

Margaret A. Tobin, age 43, Watervliet, was charged July 2 with criminal contempt second degree/disobedience- misdemeanor. 

George E. Battle, age 33, Amsterdam, was charged July 2 with aggravated unlicensed operation of a  motor vehicle 2nd/three or more suspensions- misdemeanor, operation of a  motor vehicle by unlicensed driver, unsafe backing. 

Robert M. Fosmire, age 47, Schaghticoke, was charged July 1 with criminal contempt second degree/disobedience- misdemeanor. 

Alexander M. Rand, age 33, Hudson Falls, was charged June 30 with driving while intoxicated- misdemeanor, aggravated driving while intoxicated- felony/ two counts, operation of a motor vehicle with a restriction.  Rand was charged at 11:31 p.m. after being involved in a property damage accident. at the time of the accident, Rand had a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old in the car with him. 

Shan M. Shaffe, age 21, Wilton, was charged June 30 with criminal trespass third degree/building or property misdemeanor, obstructing governmental administration second- misdemeanor, petit larceny- misdemeanor. 

Christopher D. O’Meara, age 47, Schuylerville, was charged June 30 with driving while intoxicated- misdemeanor, parking violations, refusal of pre-screen test.

District Attorney Karen Heggen commended the quick response and cooperation between the county Sheriff’s Office and officials at the Burnt Hills/ Ballston Lake School District, as well as members of the general public who contacted officials regarding the threat. It is anticipated Rossi will be sentenced to five years of probation with mental health and substance abuse terms and a permanent order of protection prohibiting visits to school properties and contacting employees or students.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash in the Town of Ballston 

BALLSTON — A 54-year-old Ballston Spa man was killed after an early morning crash on June 17. According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, James P. Van Ness was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was involved in a collision with a 2005 Jeep Liberty - operated by 18-year-old Delaney Brooks, also of Ballston Spa. The crash occurred on State Route 67 just east of Curtis Lumber in the Town of Ballston. Van Ness was pronounced dead at the scene. 
According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates Van Ness was operating his motorcycle westbound on State Route 67 when he crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head on with Brooks’ vehicle. There was no evidence of impairment by Brooks, who was treated at the scene for minor injury. The collision remains under investigation.

June 15th – June 21st, 2018

COURT

Joshua B. Reed, 25, of Saratoga Springs, pleaded June 5 to criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Sentencing scheduled July 31. 

Christopher Hutchins, 25, of Greenfield, and Ashley Deming, 30, of Corinth, pleaded May 25 in Saratoga County Court. Hutchins admitted to robbing the Dollar General store in Schuylerville and acting in concert with Deming and a third person to rob the Mobil Mart in Stillwater, according to the Saratoga County District Attorney’s office. Both incidents occurred in April. Hutchins pleaded to two counts of second degree robbery, and Deming to one count of third degree robbery. All charges are felonies. The case of the third co-defendant, who was not named, is still pending. Sentencing is scheduled for July 27. 

POLICE

Michael T. Garrick, age 35, and Alicia C. Lewie, age 33, were each charged June 6 with felony grand larceny and felony robbery. According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, members of the Sheriff’s Office were called to the Walmart on Rt. 9 in the Town of Halfmoon for a report of a grand larceny that had occurred in the parking lot.  A male subject had grabbed a pocketbook from a female victims shopping cart and fled the area in a dark colored vehicle.  Members of the Sheriff’s C.I.U. (Criminal Investigation Unit) took over and identified Garrick and Lewie as the persons responsible for the crime. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Garrick and Lewie were also responsible for a robbery, where a firearm was displayed, on April 26 at the Cumberland Farms store in the village of Schuylerville. The investigation into the firearm is still active but at this time it is believed to be a BB gun. Both Garrick and Lewie were arraigned in the Town of Halfmoon Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail. There is also an active NYS Parole warrant for Lewie.

Christine J. Brown, age 26, Gloversville, was charged June 1 with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th- misdemeanor, one-way street, consumption of alcoholic beverages. 

Saad M. Farahat, age 52, Saratoga Springs, was charged June 1 with assault in the third degree/intent physical injury- misdemeanor, endangering the welfare of a child – misdemeanor, assault in the second degree/deadly weapon- felony, criminal possession of a weapon fourth degree- misdemeanor.

Isaiah M. Robinson, age 22, of Saratoga Springs, was charged June 2 with one count felony burglary second-degree, three felony counts burglary in the third-degree, two felony criminal mischief in the third-degree, felony criminal possession of stolen property and the misdemeanors: petit larceny, resisting arrest, and two counts criminal possession of stolen property.
It is alleged Robinson illegally entered the overnight office of the St. Francis Motel, located at 195 South Broadway. A search warrant was obtained for Robinson’s apartment at the Whitmore Court Apartment Complex. Police said based on the results of the investigation, Robinson is suspected of twice breaking in to the Springs Motel, as well as breaking into the office of the Brentwood Motel, in addition to the St. Francis hotel incident. During their search officers recovered a Dell laptop, which had been reported as being stolen during a rash of car larcenies May 30 – during which, in all, about 20 cars were entered – most of which were parked in the parking lots of the Whitmore Court Apartment complex on Crescent Street.
Additional charges are possible. Robinson was arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash, or $50,000 bond.

Melissa S. Goodhue, 33, of Ballston Spa, was charged May 21 with grand larceny, forgery, and falsifying business records – all felonies.  It is alleged Goodhue, while employed with Ash Management, located in the Town of Milton, had taken money orders between February 2017 and January 2018 intended for the payment of rent and taxes to its subsidiary companies. Goodhue is accused of taking those money orders, adding her name to the payee line, and either cashing and or depositing them to the sum of $23,701.80.  She is also alleged to have altered the official business records in an attempt to conceal her actions. Goodhue is scheduled to reappear in the Milton Town Court on June 19.

Billie Joe E. Ryle, 41, of Schenectady, was charged May 21 with identity theft in the first degree (two counts); attempted identity theft in the first degree (one count); forgery in the second degree (two counts); grand larceny in the fourth degree (one count); petit larceny (one count); and attempted petit larceny (one count). Ryle is accused of using the identity and business account of another person to make purchases at the Allerdice ACE Hardware in the Town of Milton. He allegedly took the items and pawned them at XChange Cash and Trade in Colonie.  Ryle was sent to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash, or $50,000 bond.

Investigation into the matter led to the arrest of Julia H.
