In what ended up being a much more lop-sided game compared to Saturday, the Americans routed Glens Falls thanks to a quick start both at the plate and from the mound.
Southpaw Gordon Hogben pitched three perfect innings before giving up one hit and eventually ending his outing with one walk and four strikeouts.
Alex Henderson and Lewie Clarke had RBI singles in the first inning to put Saratoga up 2-0 early against Glens Falls starter Trent Girard. T.J. Tracy drove home a run in the second inning before Christopher James’ two-RBI triple made it 5-0.
After the Americans offense continued to tack onto the lead, Hogben and Drew Patnode hit solo shots to make the final score 11-0.
Saratoga hosts District 13’s Hudson Valley at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Side Rec.
The Saratoga Americans claimed that trip to the title game after defeating Glens Falls, 13-8, Saturday, July 6.
After facing a 6-0 deficit in the third, Henderson came up clutch with a grand slam to pull the Americans within two. Justin Geils also had two hits in the inning, including a two-out bases-clearing single shortly after Henderson’s homer to put the Americans up 7-6.
Dan Eaton added two more runs with a double in the fourth to go up 9-6 for some needed insurance before Glens Falls battled back to 9-8.
Saratoga responded in the fifth, as Chris James’ RBI single in the and Patnode’s three-run bomb secured the victory, as Hogben closed out the game from the mound with back-to-back scoreless innings.
