Annual Car, Truck & Bike Show

Saratoga Horse Farm Tours

Various Farms in Saratoga County, Noon – 4 p.m.  Saratoga County Cornell Cooperative Extension is partnering with horse farms in Saratoga County for the annual Horse Farm Tour. This is a free opportunity for the public to visit and learn about the horse industry in the county. The farms are located from Schuylerville to Galway. The participating farms include Mill Creek Farm, Alliance 180, Saratoga Glen Farm, Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga, McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, and Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. All farms are open from 12 – 4 p.m. except for Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, which is offering two guided tours that day at 1 and 3 p.m. only. 2024 Village Walking Tour – Village of Stillwater

Meet: Stillwater Library parking lot adjacent to Blockhouse Park, Rt 4 Hudson Ave. Stillwater | 10 – 11:30 a.m. Led by Sara Kipp, director of the Stillwater Public Library. The tour will begin at the the former location of many mills and factories in the late 1800s. Other stops along the way will include the 150-year-old St. John’s Episcopal Church; the site of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp; the Newland-Wood firehouse and many more. After a one-mile walk, the tour will end in the new library with many historical images and maps of the Champlain Canal which is celebrating its 200th anniversary.

Wilton New York: Goodbye Old 1910

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave., Ballston Spa | 7 p.m.  Hamilton Craig, a doctoral student at CUNY researching farmers movement in the United States, and a native of Shushan, Washington County, will present a vivid portrayal of farm life in Wilton, New York based on the 1910 diary of Wilton resident Mary Brainard. The diary reveals an intimate picture of a rural world in transition, caught between the subsistence and barter economy of early America and the capitalist economy of modern America. Analyzing this diary offers an opportunity to reflect on what was gained in this transition and what was lost.

4th Annual Lemonade Stand Event

On Saturday, August 3, from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., the Ballston Spa Sunshine Kid’s Lemonade Stand returns at Ribbon Café, located at 11 Prospect St., Ballston Spa, rallying support for 9-year-old Charles Barton, who is courageously battling leukemia. The event promises a day filled with activities for all ages, including children’s activities organized by local organizations such as Ballston Area Community Center, Saratoga Children’s Museum, and Ballston Area Recreation Center. Visitors can enjoy music, vendor booths, and special appearances including visits from Ballston Spa’s EMS, miniature donkeys from Maple Leaf Farm, dancers from Carol Lawrence Dance Center, a DJ, stock cars, and a firetruck from Ballston Spa Fire station.

Ladies Lesson, Lunch & Golf Tee Party

Brookhaven Golf course, 333 Alpine Meadows Rd., Greenfield | Noon – 3 p.m. The event is for golfers of all skill levels but requires no experience. Ladies are invited to join for one-hour group lesson at the driving range, where participants will be grouped by skill level and work with a golf professional. After the lesson, the ladies gather for lunch at The View Restaurant. One beverage of choice and lunch are included with registration, which costs $60 for residents and $70 for nonresidents. Guided Trolley Tours

Chatfield Museum Open

440 Middle Grove Road Middle Grove | 4 – 6 p.m. Fridays, July 26 through August 30 The Town of Greenfield Historical Society will have their museum, “Chatfield Museum” Open to the public. Stop in and check out the Veterans Corner with photos of local men and women in their uniforms, mannequins display some of these uniforms as well as fireman uniforms, and many other days gone by articles of clothing. This is a two-story museum with many local artifacts. Local Historical Society Members will be on hand to answer your questions.

Frederick Douglass Speaks on Democracy

Frederick Allen Elks Lodge, 69 Beekman Street, Saratoga Springs | 2 p.m. The Saratoga County History Center and the Saratoga Springs Black Elks have joined together to cosponsor a timely presentation by Frederick Douglass interpreter Nathan M. Richardson. Mr. Richardson will lead a conversation about the meaning of American democracy from the perspective of the renowned former slave turned writer, orator and abolitionist. Hear how his relationship with other abolitionists and several Presidents influenced his beliefs which remain important today. This event is underwritten by a generous donation from Frederic Sober Jr.  

Sounds of Summer

Dragon’s Breath

The Sembrich, 4800 Lake Shore Dr., Bolton Landing | 10 a.m. A charming children’s opera by Adirondack resident and composer Evan Mack and librettist Joshua McGuire. The production is sung in English and appropriate for children pre-K to 6th grade. The opera is approximately 35 minutes long and will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The story follows a child named Alan who is finding ways to cope with his anger, personified as a Dragon. Rather than slaying the Dragon, Alan discovers the Dragon’s true nature and his ability to tame it. The Gift of a Lifetime

Halfmoon Town Hall, A. James Bold Meeting Room, 2 Halfmoon Town Plaza, Halfmoon | 5 p.m. A special event unveiling three historic indentured documents from the 1700’s, generously donated by Mr. Joe Lawrence of Georgia. These invaluable documents, written on animal skin and dating back to 1700, were meticulously restored and framed at no cost to the Town. The event will also feature a Cemetery Map from 1871 and minutes of the first Halfmoon Town Board meeting held on April 1, 1788. The documents, which include the oldest indenture from 1700 with attorney Philip Schuyler, Esq., are in remarkable condition for their age.

Pitney Meadows Fire Feast

223 West Avenue, Saratoga Springs | 6-9 p.m. Saratoga’s most unique summer event features local chefs cooking over six open-fire pits. Join us for Zurich-based fluxxbaby’s ‚girlfluxx EP‘ release tour with Death Rattled, Troy-based musician Manuel J. Perez III, presented by Improv Spaces at Saratoga Arts. fluxxbaby focuses on harsh sounds and deconstructed rhythms, capturing the abstraction, loneliness, and brutality of late capitalism in 2024 and shaping it into her own soundtrack. Death Rattled explores the assembling, juxtaposition, and disfiguration of recognizable symbols through multimedia and audiovisual mediums.

The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announces its annual summer open house, Frances Day, will be on Saturday, July 20, beginning at 2 p.m. The family-friendly event honors the museum’s namesake, Frances Young Tang, Skidmore College Class of ’61, and offers multiple ways for visitors to explore the museum’s stellar program of contemporary art exhibitions and events, with tours, art-making activities, food, music, giveaways and more. Gumbo with Kendrick for TRF

The Principessa Elena Society located at 13 Oak Street, Saratoga Springs, will host its fourth annual “Gumbo with Kendrick for TRF’’ party on Monday, July 15 from 6 – 9 p.m. Louisiana native and jockey Kendrick Carmouche will again prepare gumbo for this event, which will benefit the Saratoga Springs-based Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF), a 501(c) (3) non-profit that is the nation’s oldest and largest Thoroughbred rescue and sanctuary organization. Pitney Meadows Fire Feast

Pitney Meadows Community Farm’s signature farm-to-table event, Fire Feast, returns. Saratoga’s most unique summer event features local chefs cooking over six open-fire pits. The chefs will source meat, fish, cheese, wine, beer, and produce from local producers and Pitney Meadows’ farm fields. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided by Bars without Boundaries. Summer Sunday Stroll of Saratoga’s Historic West Side

Meet: 2nd Street, between N. Broadway and Bryan St., Saratoga Springs |  4:30 p.m. This will be the inaugural parade for the Bikeatoga Bicycle Battalion, and we are excited to be sponsoring this Flag Day riding group, making it inclusive to all cyclists. All people with a bike, young and old, large or small bike. e-bike or Pedal powered and anything in between are invited to show your patriotic colors when you decorate your bike and self for the Saratoga Elks Flag Day Parade.  There are plenty of colorful items to decorate your bike with at the Dollar Tree. Author Addresses Caregiver Challenges

Watercolor Demonstration

Saratoga Springs Booster Club Field Hockey Camp

Town of Milton’s 250th Revolutionary War Committee Ceremony

This event, taking place on June 29 at 11a.m., is to commemorate a sign honoring veterans of the Revolutionary War at Grenell Cemetery on Grenell Road. The color guard of the Saratoga Battle Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will execute a musket fire salute in period uniforms. ‘The Masterpiece’

The first production of Spotlighter’s Theatre Troupe’s 35th season ‘The Masterpiece’ will be performed at the Malta Community Center, 1 Bayberry Drive on Saturday June 22 at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. and Sunday June 23 at 2 p.m. ‘The Masterpiece’, a Spotlighter’s original musical comedy directed by Elyse Young, set in the 1970s, includes audience involvement figuring out the tangled web of characters and solving the crimes. Saratoga Springs Booster Club Field Hockey Camp

 The Saratoga Springs Booster Club will be hosting its annual field hockey camp beginning on June 24 and ending on June 28 at Saratoga High School from 8 – 11 a.m. each day (except Monday- 5 -8 p.m.) on the turf.  The program is open to grades third through twelfth. No experience needed.   The camp includes extensive individual instruction along with daily participation in game situations.  The goal is to teach the fundamentals of field hockey, while ensuring that each player leaves the camp with a new appreciation for the game.  The camp brochure can be downloaded from the Booster Club’s website at www. Town of Milton’s 250th Revolutionary War Committee Ceremony

This event, taking place on June 29 at 11a.m., is to commemorate a sign honoring veterans of the Revolutionary War at Grenell Cemetery on Grenell Road. The color guard of the Saratoga Battle Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will execute a musket fire salute in period uniforms.  The purpose of this committee is to draw attention to, and educate the public about important people, places, and events of the Town of Milton as they relate to the American Revolution.  For more information contact Michael Golden at mgolden1775@gmail.com
