Nature Photography Exhibit

2025 Ghost Tours 

Canfield Casino, Congress Park, Saratoga Springs 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Canfield Casino, one of America’s Most Terrifying Places, as featured on the Travel Channel and Ghost Hunters. This season’s tours promise to immerse guests in Saratoga’s spectral history with new stories, local legends, and chilling accounts of real paranormal encounters. 19th Annual Car, Truck and Bike Show

Clifton Park Elks Lodge, 695 MacElroy Road, Ballston Lake | 9 a.m. All years and makes of cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. We will present awards to the top vehicles. Fun, Music, 50/50 Raffles, and Great Food. Come see the contestant vehicles! The contestant entry fee is $20; Spectators are free. Proceeds benefit the Elks National Foundation and the NYSEA Major Project Fund (Cerebral Palsy Home Service Program). Giant Church Yard Sale

Unitarian Universalist Church, 624 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The church has been sold, and we are moving.  Moving Sale – Congregational donations include books, fitness equipment, sporting goods, Christmas décor, kitchen items, tools, hardware, furniture, crafts and more. Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser

Grant Cottage, 1000 Mount McGregor Rd., Wilton | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Calling all competitive cornhole players and fans! 2025 Horse Farm Tour 

Various Farms throughout Saratoga County | Noon – 4 p.m. Saratoga County Cornell Cooperative Extension is partnering with horse farms in Saratoga County for the Annual Horse Farm Tour. This is a free opportunity for the public to visit and learn about the horse industry in the county. The farms are located throughout Saratoga County from Schuylerville to Galway. The participating farms include Mill Creek Farm, McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, Saratoga Glen Farm, Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga, Alliance 180, Cross Timbers Ranch, and DeLuca Equine. Erie Canal’s 200th Anniversary

Halfmoon Town Park, 162 Route 236, Halfmoon | 3 p.m. Town of Halfmoon will Celebrate Erie Canal’s 200th Anniversary with Music and Community Event and will highlight the canal’s rich history and local impact. The free public event will feature “The Remarkable, Irresistible Erie,” a live musical performance that brings the canal’s story to life through songs and narration. The program includes a mix of original and newly composed music, framed with historical storytelling that reflects on the people, events, and communities that shaped the Erie Canal’s storied history and proud legacy, locally and across the state. Casino Night at the Museum

Summer Sunday Stroll: Greenridge Cemetery and the Civil War

Meet at the Sackett Gate entrance of Greenridge Cemetery located on Lincoln Avenue, Saratoga Springs | 10:30 a.m. – Noon. Join Gloria May as she strolls though the Greenridge Cemetery telling the “yarns and tales” of those who answered President Lincoln’s call to save the Union during the Civil War. Van Schaick Mansion Open House

1 Van Schaick Avenue, Cohoes | 1 – 4 p.m. The historic mansion will be open to the public. Admission to the grounds and cemetery is free. Three Sisters Festival

Brookside Museum 21 Fairground Ave., Ballston Spa | 2 – 3:30 p.m. An afternoon of fun for the whole family. Come and learn about the Native American gardening technique known as the three sisters which encourages the growth of corn, beans and squash. The day’s events include a telling of Native American stories, garden tour, porch sale, bake sale as well as refreshments of popcorn and herbal iced tea. 2025 Grand, Gilded, and Glorious: A Saratoga Stroll Walking Tour Season

Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitor Center, 297 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 10:30 – Noon. Participants will begin at the Saratoga Springs Visitor Center and stroll through historic Congress Park, concluding with a full tour of the elegant Canfield Casino, including admission to the Saratoga Springs History Museum (a $15 value). The tour takes place every Tuesday – Saturday, until October 18, rain or shine. Tickets are $25 Adults, $10 Youth (12–17) and Children under 12 free. Backyard BBQ

Saratoga Senior Center’s 70th Anniversary Luncheon

Fasig-Tipton Pavilion, 153 George St., Saratoga Springs | Noon – 2:30 p.m. The exclusive event will feature an intimate fireside chat between Jim Nantz and his CBS colleague and golf icon Dottie Pepper, offering guests an unforgettable experience filled with personal stories, career insights, and heartfelt moments. This milestone celebration honors legendary CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz as the Center’s Man of the Year for his impactful work in Alzheimer’s advocacy. Concert in the Park

Upbeat on the Roof

Health, History, and Horses Charity Gala

Fifth Annual Lemonade Stand Benefit

The Ribbon Café, 11 Prospect St., Ballston Spa | 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Ballston Spa Sunshine Kids Host a family-friendly fundraising event to support Oliver (“Ollie”), a 5-year-old from the Saratoga area who is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia, diagnosed on Christmas Day. This year’s benefit features free kids’ activities, including: a bounce house, face painting, live music, fire trucks to explore, crafts, raffles, food and lemonade. Plus, local organizations and groups are joining in support, including Ballston Spa Fire Department, Ballston Spa EMS, Ballston Spa Wrestling & Football Teams, Boy Scouts, The Saratoga Children’s Museum, Local performances, and much more. 30th Annual Turning Point Parade and Festival

Broad St., Schuylerville | 1 – 2:30 p.m. Enjoy a parade with small-town charm featuring over 100 units, including marching bands, fire and rescue teams, law enforcement, reenactors, and military groups. The route follows Broad Street. The Turning Point Festival runs through August 9. The week offers more than a dozen free public programs designed to celebrate Saratoga’s Revolutionary War legacy while engaging families in hands-on history, science, and cultural storytelling. The week includes walking tours, living history, canal-era heritage events, and nature-based learning. All events are family-friendly, with highlights for children, veterans, educators, and visitors of all ages. Native New York

Champlain Canal Region Gateway Visitors Center, 30 Ferry St., Schuylerville | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Drop in event. Families are invited to stop in for a hands-on and self-paced exploration of Saratoga County’s earliest inhabitants, the Haudenosaunee people. Participants can try a hand at grinding corn, examine how natural materials were used, play with traditional games, and make a craft to take home.

Poetry Reading

Caffè Lena, 47 Phila St., Saratoga Springs |7 p.m. Caffè Lena will present a poetry reading by Mike Jukovic. An open mic poetry reading will follow. Chatfield Museum

440 Middle Grove Road, Middle Grove | 4 – 6 p.m. The Town of Greenfield Historical Society will have their museum open this summer, every Thursday through Aug 28. Please stop by to see the two floors of local History. Members of the Historical Society will be available to answer questions.

Concert in the Park

Heritage Hunters 

Town of Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring St., Schuylerville | 1 p.m. Bobbi Reno, historian for the town of East Greenbush, will present the program “The Illegal Execution of Pvt. Samuel Helms.” Samuel Helms, stationed in Ulster County during the War of 1812, was arrested and charged with desertion in 1813 and brought to the U. S. Army post, the Greenbush Cantonment, to face a court martial. His execution took place later in 1813. Bobbi’s 15-year research shows that he should only have been charged with going AWOL. Summer Garden Program: The Victorian Fascination with Plants

Tradition in Ink: The Art of Rabbi Linda Motzkin

Temple Sinai, 509 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 3 – 5 p.m. Rabbi Linda Motzkin is one of a handful of women in the world trained as a Hebrew scribe, a role traditionally reserved for men. She is unique among female scribes in that she is the only one who makes her own parchment. Rabbi Motzkin will discuss how she repurposes pieces of parchment into original works, incorporating Hebrew calligraphy drawn from Jewish sacred texts, including the Bible. She also will explain her specific process for making these pieces. Several of her artworks will be available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Temple Sinai. Twelve Years a Widow

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave., Ballston Spa | 7 p.m. Join Yale historian and Middlebury College teacher, Connor Williams, as he sheds some light on the story of Anne, not only about her life, but also about the challenges of uncovering that story. Anyone who has done historical research knows the difficulties in tracking down the stories of women, particularly working-class women, and especially women of color. The story of Anne Hampton Northup is remarkable. A much sought after cook, she was born free in Washington County and is best known for being the wife of Solomon Northup, who was kidnapped in 1841 and subsequently enslaved for twelve years. But who was Anne, and how did she manage as a single woman, bringing up three children, for twelve years until her husband’s return?

This week’s concert features MPThree, an acoustic band that originated from casual campfire music sessions. The band’s lead vocalist, Mark Pierre, started his music career in his mid-40’s, playing acoustic guitar and singing with family and friends. MPThree’s music style is rooted in country and classic genres, with a focus on storytelling and connecting with the audience. The back covered patio at the Heritage Area Visitor Center, located at 297 Broadway, will be the concert rain location.

Saratoga Catholic Baseball Camp

The Civil War Letters of Captain Luther M Wheeler 

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave Ballston Spa | 7 – 8:30 p.m. Local author David Handy will bring to life the Civil War experiences of Captain Wheeler as related in his letters to his family. Wheeler wrote about military life and the carnage of battles he participated in, including the Peninsula Campaign, Antietam and Fredericksburg. A Train Near Magdeburg

Temple Sinai, 509 Broadway, Saratoga Springs and on Zoom | 7 p.m. An evening with author Matthew Rozell, a Hudson Falls, NY native. He will share a teacher’s journey into the Holocaust and the reunions it inspired some 70 years later. A Train Near Magdeburg is the true story behind an iconic photograph taken when American soldiers liberated a death train deep in the heart of Nazi Germany. It also brings to life the story of a dedicated high school history teacher who reunited hundreds of Holocaust survivors and their children with the American soldiers who rescued them. Rozell reconstructs the story, drawing on eyewitness accounts, survivor testimony, memoirs, wartime reports, and personal letters. Curator’s Tour of Up to Us: Black Dimensions in Art, 1975–Tomorrow

Tang Museum Atrium, Skidmore College, 815 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs | Noon. Free and open to the public. The exhibition, which the online art magazine Hyperallergic touts as one of season’s must-see shows, presents a rich collection of archival material—including publications, posters, photographs, and other ephemera—alongside artwork by BDA members as well as artists from the Tang collection who have been included in past BDA exhibitions or are associated with larger conversations around Black liberation in the late 20th century. The title Up to Us originates from a 1980s Harlem Week slogan “Much more to do … a better Harlem is up to us,” which epitomizes the need for Black communities to create and claim space for themselves and connects BDA to other grassroots Black arts and culture organizations throughout the country.

Heritage Hunters: Genealogy and Local History

James Arnold, retired University Professor and native of the Schuylerville area, will talk about the July 1758 French and Indian War battle at Fort Carillon (later known as Ticonderoga). She Loves Me

Two sworn enemies who work together at a Budapest parfumerie have been writing love letters to — and falling for — an anonymous pen pal; only to discover they’ve been writing to each other. A Mass for Women in Bathrooms 

Universal Preservation Hall, 25 Washington St., Saratoga Springs | 7:30 p.m. Opera Saratoga presents a new work from award-winning Irish composer Emma O’Halloran and librettist Naomi Louisa O’Connell, 7:30 p.m. Centered around three sisters and their mother, it tells an intimate family story through the lens of Catholic Mass, examining themes of infertility, reproductive rights, and bodily autonomy. This “opera-theater” work uses the girls’ crumbling relationship with their mother as a metaphor for the deterioration of the church’s power in contemporary Ireland. The program will be presented by historian Tommie D. Boudreaux in collaboration with the Galveston Historical Foundation. Opera Saratoga Sing-In

Tour Begins at the Whitney Viewing Stand, Oklahoma Training Track, Saratoga Race Course | 9:30 a.m. and Sunday, June 8, 9:30 a.m.  In celebration of the Belmont Stakes, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to offer two exclusive behind-the-scenes walking tours of the historic Saratoga Race Course.  A rare opportunity to explore the oldest and one of the most iconic sporting venues in the United States. Led by the Foundation’s Executive Director, Samantha Bosshart, this special walking tour will take participants through both the public and lesser-known sides of the race course. Karner Blue Butterfly Walk

The endangered Karner blue butterfly has two broods every year. The first brood emerges in late May and the second brood in early July. 2nd Annual Improv Spaces Music Fest

Saratoga County History Center Tour

Union Ave., Saratoga Springs | 10am.  Local historian and author Hollis Palmer will revisit the Gilded Age by telling stories behind the great cottages that line Union Avenue and Circular Street in the city. All tours are scheduled for approximately 90 minutes. Registration is available at brooksidemuseum.org. Tour limits vary between 25 and 45 people. Suggested donation for the walking tours is $10 to support the programs of the Museum.

Opera Saratoga Festival Artist Portrait Concert

The Civil War Letters of Captain Luther M Wheeler 

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave., Ballston Spa | 7 – 8:30 p.m. Local author David Handy will bring to life the Civil War experiences of Captain Wheeler as related in his letters to his family. Wheeler wrote about military life and the carnage of battles he participated in, including the Peninsula Campaign, Antietam and Fredericksburg. Handy has compiled these letters along with the author’s commentary in his latest book, I Think I Shall See a Hundred Battle.
